Reading aloud a few pages of poetry

Reading aloud a few pages of poetry seems to be a reliable way to shift my mind into a contemplative mode, ideal for prayer.

I like the New Penguin Book of English Verse - especially its novel arrangement of poems by date rather than by author. It's a time machine.

Jon, for me just to read your little notes is refreshing. Plus it make me feel a little spiritually envious (if there is such a thing).
My life is not really all that busy, nevertheless I always seem to be frenetic - always trying to achieve some necessary thing - that I deem necessary.
Thanks for letting others have a view into your heart.
Joe

Hi Joe - heh - funny, I thought I was spiritually poor! forgetting about God all day and speeding through my prayers at night. I wrote this little note to remind myself how I get into prayer-mode. Joe - I suspect you and I are much alike.
